The subject of this Bachelor Thesis is a commented translation of selected chapters from the book "Jazz in Deutschland: Die deutsche Jazzchronik bis 1960", published in 1996 in Hildesheim. This book was written by the German musicologist Horst H. Lange. This Thesis consists of two parts. The first one comprises the translation of the German text into Czech. The second part is composed of translation analysis based on the model of Christiane Nord, description of the translation method, translation problems and shifts in the translation.
